Recommended season
June to September, with July–August the most reliable for high passes.
Road conditions
Long gravel, corrugation, altitude, weather changes and limited fuel.
Required experience
Confident riders or drivers used to unpaved mountain roads and altitude.
Permits
GBAO permit required. Cross-border travel only with written approval.
